Akagera national park shares borders with Tanzania to the east currently managed by African parks, an institution which has done a great job with the conservation of the park. Despite past conflicts between people and the park, African parks has taken initiative to solve this by fencing off part of the park and also the introduction of Akagera community tours has encouraged more visitors to visit these local communities and benefit accordingly.
